This crisp, elegant beauty is exuberantly aromatic, with notes of lemon curd, honeysuckle, rose oil, kaffir lime, melon and pear. The palate is bright, with characteristic acidity, viscosity on the mid-palate and a lovely lingering finish.

Our portfolio has long included two chardonnays: our “Chardonnay”, traditionally made from fruit sourced from the southern end of the Napa Valley, and our “Vintner Select Chardonnay”, sourced from the Sonoma side of our estate vineyard.  Beginning with the 2017 vintage, we are blending into our Napa Chardonnay two new vineyard sources located in Sonoma County. Production is intended to remain the same, but as we sought a replacement for a Napa Valley vineyard that was starting to show its age, the quality of two vineyards located in Sonoma County was impossible to resist. As a result, our “Chardonnay” will be labeled with the percentage of grapes sourced in each county.  Winemaking remains consistent, with fermentation in French oak barrels, 20% new, and malolactic fermentation at a level of 30%.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: June 2019
    Rating: 91

Generously appointed with fresh, but fully ripe, sweet apple fruit with an assist from supportive, slightly creamy oak and showing a fine sense of layering without ever being blousy or overblown, Pride’s two-county Chardonnay is a deep and well-tailored wine that is full and fleshy and deftly balanced all at once. It is already quite showy but has the structure to keep and can be counted on to grow for a bit and provide delicious drinking for a number of years to come.

  • California Grapevine: Volume 45
    Rating: 90

Medium-light golden yellow color; attractive, apple, white peach, and pineapple aroma with a floral note hinting of honeysuckle; medium to medium-full body; rich, fleshy, apple and pear flavors with bright acidity, undertones of toasty oak, and a slight creaminess in the mouthfeel; lingering aftertaste. Very highly recommended.
