2024 Vintner Select Chardonnay

Our 2024 Vintner Select Chardonnay is everything we aim for when crafting this wine. By approaching our estate grapes with the same attention and care as those for our Napa Valley Chardonnay, we can make a wine that is true to its mountain upbringing. Candied lime zest and fresh apricot aromas pour out of the glass. On the palate, a subtle richness, owing to our copious sunshine and slower ripening, gives way to a bright line of tension and minerality that guides this wine through to a long, refreshing finish. Highlighted by an intriguing salinity, nuanced aromas of fresh sage, Red Bartlett pear and honeycomb play along wonderfully with the slightly more structured style of this mountain wine.

This is a fine and precise chardonnay that is technically Sonoma County, although the vineyard sits just 200 yards from the Napa County line. Aromas of sliced lemons, honeysuckle, green melon, beeswax, lanolin and a lovely mineral undertone. The palate is seamlessly integrated, with bright acidity and a lovely silken texture that finishes full of fruit, showing plenty of nerve and verve. Only 30% malolactic fermentation helps hold acidity and freshness. Drink or hold.

The Vintner Select Chardonnay is also barrel-fermented and aged for seven to eight months in just 10% new French oak. It undergoes roughly 30% malolactic fermentation, retaining bright acidity that gives the wine remarkable energy and breadth. Super vivid and fresh, it shows crisp, crunchy orchard fruit with wonderful depth of flavour and concentration, leaning into a saline edge. The wine becomes more focused and linear on the finish—so bright and beautifully food-friendly.

The 2024 Chardonnay Vintner Select is rich and creamy in the glass. Lemon confit, white flowers, spice, light tropical inflections and a kiss of French oak all grace this exquisite, beautifully layered Chardonnay from Pride. This is a Chardonnay of true distinction.

Spending 10 months in just 12% new French oak with the balance in neutral and once-used barrels, the 2024 Chardonnay Vintner Select showed beautifully, with a clean, crisp, yet textured style. Ripe melon, subtle tropical fruits, and honeyed white flowers all emerge from the bouquet, and it's medium-bodied on the palate, with nicely integrated acidity and a great finish. It's well worth seeking out and will keep for 7-8 years or more. Both the 2024 Chardonnays from Pride are brilliant wines. Drink 2026-2034.
