Jet Black, ultrarich and polished, with detailed layers of currant, blackberry, Raspberry jam, exotic spices and new leather scents-it's a mouthful of Syrah any way you cut it. Finishes with a burst of flavor and hints of nutmeg and cedar. Best from 2005 through 2012, 182 cases made.

The Syrah program, a relatively new offering from Pride Mountain's young vines planted on rocky soils at a 2000 foot elevation, is beginning to grow in stature as well as production. There are seven barrels (175 cases)of the 2001 Syrah. Inky-purple, with a smoky richness of blackberry jam intermixed with hints of creosote and truffles, this is a big, thick, opulent Syrah fruit bomb that should drink well for 10-12 years, possibly longer.
