1995 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

1995 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

We are very excited to introduce our first Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Pride Mountain Vineyards. The 1995 vintage produced red wines with phenomenal depth and concentration. The barrels selected for our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon represent the richest lots in the cellar. Blended and balanced with French Oak, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon will offer enjoyment for many years to come.

Pride Mountain Vineyards is located on the very top of Spring Mountain, above 2,000 feet in elevation, at the site of the historic Summit Ranch. The original winery building dating back to 1890 still stands. Currently 52 acres of vines produce grapes for our Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and Viognier.

  • Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: May/June 1998 - Rating: 94

Opaque black-ruby. Tangy cassis and boysenberry fruit on the nose, with complicating notes of leather, curry powder, cocoa, minerals and shoe polish. Pungent, juicy dark berry fruit of almost painful intensity and concentration; sharply focused and penetrating. Again, I sense a rock-solid mineral spine underneath the sweet fruit. Huge tannins are more than supported by powerful fruit extract. Really explodes and reverberates on the finish. A real fruit bomb.

  • The Wine Advocate: August 31, 1998 - Rating: 98

The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve has come of age now that it is in the bottle. This is the essence of North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon, offering port-like thickness and richness, a superb black currant, mineral, cedar, and pain grill?-scented nose, full-bodied flavors of extraordinary intensity and overall balance, and a long, moderately tannic, multidimensional finish. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2025.

  • Wine Spectator: November 30, 1998 - Rating: 93

Firm and tannic, with ripe, dense, compact black cherry, currant and blackberry flavor that's deeply concentrated and in need of time in the cellar to soften and evolve. Best from 2001 - 2010. 308 cases made.
