Let the Sunshine In: The Roles of Terroir and Farming Strategy
On this early summer morning, we'll take a hike through our mountaintop vineyards to discuss how terroir and farming strategies influence wine character. Guided by Director of Winegrowing Steve Pride, you'll learn hands-on the essentials of early-season canopy management. We'll also taste 2025 barrel samples from some of the blocks we walk to understand how both terroir and farming decisions impact the finished wine.
This walk will be a total of two miles and will involve going up one steep slope and walking on gravel, loose soil and possibly still slippery grass. Hiking shoes or athletic shoes with heavy non-slip treads are a must, as is sun protection; motorized transport will not be available, so please be prepared to walk if you register for this event.
A beautiful outdoor lunch in front of the historic Summit Ranch winery prepared by local restaurant, Los Agaves, paired with current release and library wines will wrap up the afternoon.
