2010 Vintner Select Cabernet Sauvignon

2010 Vintner Select Cabernet Sauvignon

We have seven clones of cabernet sauvignon planted on the Pride estate and each one has its own unique personality and flavor profile. Clone 337, which is used each year for this wine, is really a special one. It's a clone that represents all the best of cabernet sauvignon – ripeness, roundness, classic varietal flavor and enough tannin to be serious without being grippy. Notes of black cherry, blue fruit, cassis, anise and plum seduce the nose and tongue, displaying a real purity of fruit. The wine is thick and dense with lots of concentration, wearing its pedigree like a badge of honor.

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintner’s Select (100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 20 months in 40% new French oak) is also an exceptional effort. It boasts a deep purple color along with a classic bouquet of spring flowers, black currants, blackberries, vanillin and graphite. This forceful, rich, well-balanced Cabernet possesses well-integrated acidity, tannin, alcohol and oak. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. As always, this winery situated at the crest of Spring Mountain on both sides of the Napa/Sonoma counties boundary, has turned out a portfolio of interesting as well as satisfying wines. Amazingly, Pride Mountain Vineyards now owns over 85 acres at high elevation sites spread over the top of Spring Mountain. Pride Mountain’s two flagship offerings are much more limited in availability, with only 569 cases of the 2010 Claret Reserve and 1,365 cases of the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve.
