A Californian through and through, Tim was born in Sacramento and moved to the Napa Valley when he was just five years old. Recalling his youth, he says, “The valley was a magical place to grow up. Fishing and swimming in the Napa River, hunting in the plum orchards that would one day be some of the valley’s most prized vineyards . . . For a kid who loved – and continues to love – the outdoors, it just couldn’t have been any better.”
In his late teens, an opportunity to spend four years in Andalusia, Spain (famous for its horses, sherry, and as the birthplace of Pablo Picasso), peaked his interest in food and wine, and upon returning home, Tim spent the next two decades of his life absorbing all he could from the chefs and sommeliers he worked with while managing some of the area's finest restaurants.
One night, while working at a local restaurant, he met Bob Foley, Pride's winemaker at that time. Tim was eager to find a small winery that could use his talents and Bob was on the look out for a Chief Cook and Bottle Washer for Pride Mountain Vineyards, still under construction, but soon to open its tasting room and expand its consumer direct sales. Bob introduced Tim to Jim and Carolyn Pride, and the combination of his charm, wine knowledge (and carpentry skills) soon had him driving up Spring Mountain to work every day.
A keystone in Pride’s successful retail sales program, Tim continues to live in Napa, now with his wonderful wife, Natalie and two children, Timmy and Gracie. Many of his off-work hours continue to be spent outside, cycling and coaching soccer, while his talents in the kitchen have become renowned.
