2008 Vintner Select Cabernet Sauvignon
And now to the only wine from our property that is made strictly from the Napa side of our property. Our Vintner Select Cabernet is selected from two vineyard blocks, Carolyn's and Rim Rock, where Clone 337 thrives in the late afternoon sunshine of the block's western exposure. When planted in the perfect spot, as it is here, this clone expresses ripe blue-black fruit flavors and a broad midpalate that coats the tongue and leads to a supple and integrated tannic finish. While still dense and concentrated, as is typical of our mountain terroir, this wine is also all about finesse. Cassis, blueberry, pomegranate, rose petals and creosote notes intertwine to form a complex yet classic flavor profile that sings (rather than screams) "Cabernet."Back to Full Wine List

This fresh, rich and juicy red features layered flavors of black cherry, red and black licorice, cedar, spice and floral scents. Full-bodied and firming mid-palate, this ends with fine-grained, detailed tannins. Drink now through 2024. 531 cases made.

The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintner's Select is deeper and fleshier than the straight Cabernet. Here the flavor profile tends towards blacker fruits. Tobacco, scorched earth, spices, mint, leather and licorice add complexity and gravitas on the rich, textured finish. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2028.

Hugely delicious, just a joy to drink. So soft and velvety, so rich in blackberry jam, cassis and chocolate flavors, with the tannins so smooth and round. Really wonderful over the next few years, although the softness and high alcohol suggest it's not an ager.
