1997 Pride Cabernet Sauvignon
The crush of 1997 came fast and furious. Early budbreak made for an earlier than usual harvest and the warm ripening season provided a good size crop at full ripeness. The ripening lots extracted color as soon as they were crushed and actually stained the stainless steel! In the barrel they immediately displayed uncommon depth and extract.
The aromas of this 100% varietal Cabernet Sauvignon show very ripe berry, currant and cedar elements. Huge on the palate, the mouthfilling flavors resolve in a finish that literally lasts for minutes. Soft tannins provide the grip necessary for long and elegant bottle aging. This Cabernet is enjoyable in its youth but should improve for more than 10 years.

Plum, currant and raisin flavors show the ripeness of the vintage, but they go deeper, delivering a complete wine, rounded and impressively formed. It maintains focus and equilibrium even as the sunny Napa Valley ripeness melts the tannin to plush, pillowy softness. Completely seductive, vibrant and youthfully blue. 3,800 cases made. - November 01, 2007 The Wine Advocate, Aug. 27, 1999, Issue 24, pg. 43/44
