2006 Syrah
Each year, our Syrah pushes the definition of concentration to new limits, and 2006 continues the tradition. Planted in sandy, quartz-rich soil to limit their potential for vigor, our Syrah vines ripened blue-black grapes replete with spice and berry. The élévage was strictly in neutral French oak barrels to enhance the expressive fruit character of the wine. With blueberry, jasmine, butcher board and anise on the nose, the wine reveals waves of complexity. Dense and utterly bursting with lush berry fruit, the deeply textured palate delivers on the promise of the wine’s heady aromatics. Truly, this is a wine that is all about richness and mid-palate: acidity is present yet balanced, providing a counterpoint to the wine’s heft, while ripe tannins provide length without dryness

Dense, detailed and concentrated, this is tight, focused and full-bodied, with an enticing mix of mineral, wild cherry and black cherry fruit, picking up lots of spice, pepper and nutmeg scents that provide depth and length. Best from 2009 through 2016._JL
